Math Progress #1

Right now I am working on the Arithmetic course through Khan Academy. I am more than halfway complete with the units, currently on multiply and divide decimals. A lot of this is just a refresher, and I actually remember a good amount, so I am breezing through for the most part. Trying to spend most of my time doing problems instead of watching the videos. Division was the one I could not remember how to do it by hand, but now it is coming back to me. Here are a few things I have learned from going on this journey so far.

  1. Attention to detail
  2. Read the question carefully
  3. Show your work
  4. Break your problem into small pieces
  5. Double check your answer

Math is great practice for paying close attention to detail, and slowing down. Also great for showing how systems work, breaking problems down into smaller steps. Most of the time I have spent is redoing quizzes that I got one wrong answer from rushing too fast! I should be able to move onto basic geometry in the next month.
