Math Progress #3
Its been over a year since my last update. I am happy to report that I am over halfway through the Algebra 2 module. I am projecting to be finished with Algebra 2 in the next few weeks. I have been consistent for the last 8 months, studying math for at least one hour a day. I am very happy about that.
I originally intended Algebra to be one of my main focus areas that I was building up to, and everything I am learning feels directly applicable to writing code. I am also noticing my progress has been very smooth ever since pre-algebra. I believe it is because I went back to relearn arithmetic, which made a huge difference on my progress overall. Khan Academy has the perfect progression of learning one new concept at a time and tying it into things we learned before. Also studying daily is a great way to get these new concepts to stick for me
My goal was to learn Algebra as a pre-requisite to learning discrete math. I thought that I needed more than Algebra but I think that will be all I need to at least get started. Here is my outlook as of now:
ArithmeticAlgebra BasicsAlgebra 1High School Geometry- Algebra 2
- Discrete Math and its Applications – Rosen
- Mathematics For Computer Science
- Introduction to Algorithms book
- Algorithms and complexity
- Data structures and Algorithms
Then to continue math learning:
- Trigonometry
- Statistics and Probability
- linear algebra
- Calculus
